How do concepts of power in gender and employment status affect communication in conflict?

In the old times most society regard men as more powerful than women. This transcends to all aspects of the society– work, employment status, in the family and in every where. Women started to realize only when the tragedy in new york happenned where women were burned inside a factory building in March 8 (am sorry) cannot recall the year. They fought women empowerment which means that women should be treated equally with men. Its not that men are above women or vise-versa, but men should stand side by side with women!
